The test is positive!

When you feel the stirring of new life in your belly, and you know that your life has changed forever, you also know that this time is so precious, you want to bottle up every tiny second. It is best to book your newborn session 2-3 months before your due date. Simply sign the contract and pay the session fee, and I clear out my calendar around the anticipated session date.

In addition to being a Vancouver newborn photographer, I also love capturing your pregnancy journey as an add-on so you can remember the miracle of creating and carrying a life in your womb. It forms the perfect start to a incredible love story that culminates in your newborn session, blending seamlessly from one life stage to the next in your album.

The Big Day is here

Once you have a moment to wipe away the tears of joy, and you can tear yourself away from staring at your newborn baby in awe, let me know that baby has arrived. We will firm up a date for your session. Fresh 48 add-ons are also available to capture the raw emotions, and the absolute freshness of a new life hours after birth.

It’s Photo Day!

About 1-3 weeks after birth, once you’re settled into your new roles and routines, I will come to document the new relationships, the little newborn features, and the circle of love in your new family. It’s a relaxed, no-stress session, spent simply loving on this new little star in our midst, and taking our cues from baby.

The Big Reveal

Within 2 weeks of your session, your full gallery will be ready for its grand debut in a beautiful, tear-inducing slideshow. Grab a coffee, watch it on repeat, and soak in all those tiny details and big emotions from the comfort of your own couch. See your family’s newest chapter come to life – I’ll be available to help you pick out the moments that truly make your heart skip a beat.

The Style: These are relaxed, lifestyle sessions focused on connection. You won’t find any buckets, props, or forcing baby into “bendy” poses here. Instead, I photograph your baby exactly where they naturally belong as a newborn: snuggled safely in your arms

Timing: These sessions typically happen around 10:00 AM when the indoor light is best and the “morning stretches” are in full swing.

Your session will take place in-home or on location, and will be focused on simplicity, connection and storytelling, rather than extravagant poses with over-the-top gowns. We schedule this session between Weeks 30-36 of your pregnancy.

When booked together with a newborn session, your maternity session fee is discounted by $200. This is a full storytelling experience that includes my signature prep guide and 20 high-resolution digital files of your choice. The discounted price for this session is $600 + GST.

The Fresh 48 session is so special—it preserves those tender first moments as a new family. It’s a way to hold on to the feeling of your little one in your arms, so tiny and perfect, while they are still a true newborn and not quite a baby yet. You’ll remember every delicate detail—the wrinkled, flaky skin, tiny toes, and soft wisps of hair. There’s truly nothing like it.

Your session will take place at your place of birth, and we schedule it between 6-48 hours after birth, depending on how the birth parent and baby are doing.

When booked together with a newborn session, your Fresh 48 session fee is discounted by $200. This is a full storytelling experience that includes my signature prep guide and 20 high-resolution digital files of your choice. The discounted price for this session is $600 + GST.

As a Vancouver newborn photographer, I capture what your brand new family looks like right in your home. A lifestyle newborn session takes place in your own familiar environment, where you are most comfortable and relaxed, and so is baby. Seeing the real life interaction between you and your partner and baby, set against the backdrop of the nursery and all the little parts of your home that they will want to remember one day is SO rewarding.

You don’t need a designer home with floor to ceiling windows to have an absolutely gorgeous in-home photo session. The beauty of any house is vested in the people that call it home, and seeing your growing family in the surroundings where they feel most comfortable, will make for authentic photos telling an authentic story. In most houses, the main bedroom and the living room receives the best light (trust me, a Vancouver newborn photographer knows how to use every sliver of light!) and so we will use that most, and if baby has a nursery, I will be shooting in there as well. A simple declutter (read: throw everything into the closet) in these 3 rooms is all that is needed to get your home ready for the session.

There is no need to buy a new outfit for every family member (sorry, shopaholics!). Lifestyle sessions are meant to focus on the relationships between family members, and not so much the clothing that they wear. As such, the general guidance I have is to not wear clothing that takes the focus away. Otherwise, be yourself and be comfortable. I truly believe that the interactions and expressions in the photos we create together will be what makes you treasure an image, not so much what you’re wearing or where you’re standing. After booking your session I will send you a complete session guide with home prep advice, clothing guidance, etc.

I look at each and every image I take at your session and hand select the best images. We only want to keep images that are genuine, relaxed and full of natural connections (and flattering to all family members!). I pick a minimum of 60 images (usually more!), so you can be assured you’re getting a great variety of poses, angles and storytelling moments.

I typically book out one to three months in advance. If you are interested in a newborn session, please book your session as soon as you can WHILE you’re pregnant. Please do not wait until your baby is born as my schedule fills up very quickly and I do not want you to be left without newborn photos. Already delivered? I do try to leave a few openings in my schedule for newborn sessions. Contact me immediately to see if I can squeeze you in.

The pandemic has certainly taught the average Vancouver newborn photographer how to offer sessions that check all the safety boxes! It goes without saying that the health and safety of both my family and yours is front and center in my mind at all times. I will be rescheduling your session if I display any symptoms related to the flu. In addition, upon request, I can wear a mask during the session, and I practice very strict hand hygiene, sanitizing my hands several times before, during and after our session. You will be handling your baby most of the time.
