First Outdoor Family Photo Shoot at Rocky Point for baby Brooklyn

I was excited to meet new parents Mark and Adrienne on a crisp Port Moody afternoon for their first outdoor family photo shoot at Rocky Point. Oh boy, they were just beaming with pride as they introduced baby Brooklyn to me. What a little doll she is – and Mom was quick to admit that she loves to dress up her girl all day long! There is something about first-time parents that just absolutely melts my heart. The way they absolute dote on their little one, how they only have eyes for that life-changing addition in their lives.

Having a photography session with a 2-month old is challenging at the best of times. They can’t sit up by themselves, their long range vision is still developing so it is hard to get their attention for a family portrait, and there’s only so long they will go without a feed. Now throw in the fact that this was an outdoor photo shoot, in a forested park, and I had my work cut out for me.

But this wonderful family made it easy for me! Brooklyn barely made a sound, quite content to be lying on her back in her stroller, intently watching the forest canopy go by as we walked from location to location. Mom and Dad were game for everything. Climb on that log? Sure! Lie down on the grass? OK fine! In fact, they were so agreeable that we found ourselves sinking into the silt of the low tide as we captured the gorgeous sunset behind them.

“We better get out of here before one of us disappears under the mud!” we all giggled as we high-tailed it back to solid ground. Gosh, sometimes my clients make me feel like I’m with a bunch of my friends getting up to no good. So much fun!

The palpable love between Mark and Adrienne struck me as extra special – the shared smiles, the soft touches, the gentle way they speak to one another  … In a time where many new parents are stressed, frazzled and only focused on the new baby, they’ve managed to create a calm, confident and loving environment for little Brooklyn. I can’t wait to meet this blue-eyed trio again in the near future!
