Lavender and Gold Cake Smash – Vancouver Photographer

The request from Mom was for a lavender and gold cake smash, so that’s what we deliver! But first, little miss Maeleigh (isn’t that a beautiful name!) was styling for her mini-session before the cake smash. Looking at that gorgeous pink dress, I would absolutely not want cake anywhere close to it.

Look at that grin! This girl’s entire family loved the photo above. I know it’s because in that split second, I caught a flash of her personality. She is spirited, strong-willed and definitely knows what she wants, even at only 1 year old. And those little pursed lips show off how this little girl is blessed with heaps of spunk and personality. Capturing who this little one in front of my camera really is, beyond the fake laughs and smiles, is what I always strive for in my sessions. I’m happy to say that so far, even the shyest kids have warmed up and relaxed with this silly lady and ger camera.

Maeleigh has such an expressive face, which translates so well in black and white conversions. I’m sure you will agree that these photos look beyond the frills and the lace and the hot pink, and focus on the classic beauty of this little one’s soul, so clearly etched on her face.

But yes, she didn’t come all this way to just sit there and look pretty. It was time to bring out the cake! MJ Cakery in Abbotsford made a giant cupcake, and of course sprinkled in some gold to fit the theme. Oh Maeleigh, you look so happy with yourself! Surprised … but very happy!

The beautiful tutu, onesie and headband was crafted by Creative Mom in Langley. Stop by her website if you’re in the market for a tutu for your kids (or maybe for yourself!). Maeleigh loved her tut so much she didn’t want to get it dirty it seems. And she was no impressed when Mom decided to smear frosting on her forehead “to get her going” either!

But it didn’t take long for the little munchkin to get into the cake. We laughed so much … she would dig in, look at her hands in disgust for a moment, then dig right back in again. And yes, give us adorable raspberries in between bites!

Finally, it was all over. Another successful cake smash done and dusted. Until we meet again, Maeleigh!

A lavender and gold cake smash … or any combination of your choice. Let me design a set for YOUR colour scheme!
